Kinchakuda Higanbana Park

Five million higanbana trees are in full bloom

Kinchada was formed by the meandering of the Koraigawa River that flows through Hidaka City and is called Kinchada because of its shape similar to a kinchada.

Locals also call it “Kawarada. It is said that in the 8th century, people from the Koguryo Kingdom moved into this area and began rice cultivation by cultivating fields using the curved Koryo River.

This area is a flat plain about 500 meters in diameter and 22 hectares in area, surrounded on all sides by the Koryo River.

In the 1960s and 1960s, when Hidaka Town acquired the skirting paddy fields and cleared the grass and bushes, a large cluster of higanbana (cluster amaryllis) appeared, which was reported in the press.

In 1996, the Aiai Bridge, the largest wooden truss bridge in Japan, was completed, and the area was developed as a tourist attraction.

Many people enjoy camping on the riverbanks regardless of the season. Especially in summer, the inner arc of the river is crowded with families with small children because of the gentle current.

Rape blossoms, cosmos, and other flowers bloom seasonally, and especially in autumn, the whole area is dyed in crimson by manjushage (red spider lilies), creating a beautiful scene as if a red carpet had been spread over the area.

From September to October each year, the higanbana (higanbana or manjushage) bloom in clusters along a 5.5-hectare stretch of riverbed along the Koraigawa River. This area is the largest cluster of higanbana in Japan, and is also the site of festivals and other events that attract many tourists.

In this Kinchida field, 5 million manjushage bloom in a grove of trees, creating a fantastic space.

Together with cosmos, which also bloom in autumn, they will welcome visitors with their vivid colors.

In addition to the higanbana, visitors can also enjoy cherry blossoms and rape blossoms in spring, hydrangeas and lotus in summer, and cosmos in autumn. In addition, a variety of wild birds and small animals, such as kingfishers and flying squirrels, can be observed.

The number of visitors to this beautiful Kinchida field is increasing year by year.
