Ancient Lotus Village

120,000 lotus flowers of 42 varieties in full bloom

The ancient lotus pond and ancient lotus garden are located here, and from mid-June to early August, 120,000 lotus flowers of 42 kinds bloom, covering the entire lotus pond with beautiful lotus flowers.

The Gyoda lotus (ancient lotus) has a primitive form said to be about 1,400 to 3,000 years old, and the best time to see the lotus flowers is in the morning.

Visitors can enjoy the fragrance and beautiful colors of the ancient lotus up close while walking along the wooden paths in the lotus garden and ancient lotus pond.

In addition, from mid-July to mid-October, visitors can view the rice field art from the observation room of the Ancient Lotus Hall.

Gyoda City’s rice field art began in 2008, and every year many volunteers and participants plant rice fields.

In addition to original designs, collaborations with movies, dramas, and games have also been done, and in 2015 it was recognized by Guinness World Records as the “World’s Largest Rice Paddy Art.

There is also an aquatic botanical garden and a waterfowl pond where visitors can relax in a natural setting.

The Ancient Lotus Hall also has a lotus exhibition room and a 50-meter observation tower.

The park also has an aquatic plant garden, a waterfowl pond, a peony garden, a plum grove, a cherry blossom viewing plaza with cherry trees, and an adventure playground, where visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature throughout the year.

Ancient lotuses were accidentally germinated during the construction of a public facility and bloomed in 1973. Based on geological artifacts and radiocarbon dating, it is estimated to be approximately 1,400 to 3,000 years old, hence the name ancient lotus.

When the lotus flowers bloom from late June to early August, the area is crowded with citizens and tourists.
